Vietnam Program for Internet & Society (VPIS) - University of Social Sciences and Humanities, Vietnam National University Hanoi, is an interdisciplinary research program relating to sociology, law, journalism & media, economics, languages, psychology, political science, and information technology. This program aims to clarify the impact of the Internet on different social aspects of life, and in reverse order, the impact of society on forming the future development of the Internet, in terms of social sciences and humanities.

 

After just over 20 years in Vietnam, the Internet has increasingly built greater impact on our lives. Therefore, in-depth studies about the influence of the Internet on areas such as communication, language, psychology, media, legal system, public administration, and business etc., have shown to be very crucial. These studies will provide a solid background for independent assessment from the perspective of social sciences and humanities, which will simultaneously limit the negative aspects and promote the positive aspects of the Internet on society.

 

Vietnam Program for Internet & Society focuses on these research areas:

 

Internet & Life: Focusing on the impact of the Internet on culture, psychology, language, and other social issues as well as some other related issues.

Internet & Law: Focusing on the impact of the Internet on legislation, especially laws, regulations, and policies which related to the Internet as well as some other related issues.

Internet & Public Management: Focusing on the impact of the Internet on governance and policy making as well as some other related issues.

Internet & Education: Focusing on the impact of the Internet on education, training and practical applications as well as some other related issues.

Internet & Media: Focusing on the impact of the Internet on the press, media and related applications.

 

Vietnam Program for Internet & Society is also an open forum encouraging scholars, policy makers, and businessman to discuss relevant issues about the Internet and different social aspects of life in Vietnam. As regard to the world context, this open forum can support using the Internet to promote education, policy making, and transparency business environment in Vietnam.

 

With 70 years at the forefront of training and studying social sciences and humanities of the Đại học Tổng hợp before, which is now the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, Vietnam Program for Internet & Society will contribute to create a new research industry and training that meet the developing demand in the era of Mobile Internet, Cloud Computing and Big Data.
