Vietnam Program for Internet & Society (VPIS) – University of Social Sciences & Humanities (USSH), Vietnam National University, Hanoi – would like to send you the warmest greetings.

 

According to a research of We Are Social Media in January 2017, more than 46 million people in Vietnam, whose population is around 93 million, frequently use social media. Vietnam ranks 22nd in the world for the number of social media users. In particular, Facebook, with its advent in Vietnam in 2009, has quickly become the most popular social network.  The rapid development of Facebook and smart phones in modern life has attracted the public’s attention to their influences on users’ health. Recent International researches indicate that there are connections between internet and human health such as the impacts on the psychology, sleeping capacity and social behaviors of users.

 

Accordingly, The Vietnam Program for Internet & Society (VPIS) – University of Social Sciences & Humanities (USSH), Vietnam National University, Hanoi – organizes the conference on: “Social media and their psychological impact on users

 

With the presence of local scientific researchers, policy makers and media agencies, the conference aims to discuss and explain the impact on a person’s physical and mental health in the digital Age. The conference focuses on five main points including:

 

·        Research report on Impact of Facebook on users’ psychology 2017. This is the first report in the annual series of research reports on the psychology of social media users undertaken by VPIS. The report is expected to illustrate the current situation and point out emotional expressions, sense of self-worth and levels of engagement of Facebook users.

·        Definition and signals of “addicted to” and “reliant on” the Internet – social media

·        Social media and the psychological impacts on its users

·        Solutions to mitigate negative impact of the Internet on users’ health

·        Recommendations to further specialized researches on this topic

 

The conference takes place from 8:30 am to 12:30 pm on Wednesday, September 6th 2017 at Conference Room 304, Building E, University of Social Sciences & Humanities, No. 336, Nguyen Trai Street, Thanh Xuan District, Hanoi.
