How has the Internet changed Vietnam's society for the past 20 years?

On the occasion of the 20th anniversary of Internet, Prof.Dr. Pham Quang Minh, Chairman of the Vietnam Program for Internet & Society (VPIS) participated the "Talk Vietnam" Program on VTV4 to discuss the changes and advances of Vietnam since we opened the Internet. Denis Brunetti, General Director of Ericsson Vietnam and Myanmar, also attended the talkshow.

 

Vietnam officially connected to the Internet on November 19, 1997, the significant milestone in the history of the Vietnamese information and communication industry. By 2017, Vietnam is one of nations having the fastest growth on Internet users in the world, ranking the highest in Southeast Asia in terms of number of domain names. Prof. Dr. Pham Quang Minh asserted that "the Internet has brought Vietnam from an isolated country after years of war to become an open, integrating and connecting one."
